ArtsSmarts eXchange 2010
Realizing the Potential of the Arts and Creativity in 21st Century Learning

Our annual learning symposium will take place October 4 - 5, 2010 at the Sofitel in Montreal, Quebec.

Join over 200 educators, artists, administrators, ArtsSmarts partners, community organizers, policy makers, education ministries and arts councils.  Over two days we will bring together uncommon and unlikely partners who share a passion for curiosity and a belief in the transformative power of the arts as a way of learning.

Learning highlights include keynote speakers Karen Hume, Michael Jones, Carrie Fitzsimmons and Penny Milton as well as an impressive line-up of more than 20 workshops running in 3 concurrent tracks focussed on classroom practice, organizational strategy and future thinking.

For more information, please visit our conference website.

Please note that a continental breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee. Tickets for the Opening Night 5-à-7 must be purchased separately.

*An ArtsSmarts partner is defined as any artist, educator, coordinator, administrator or individual currently involved in one of our 16 partnerships.

ArtsSmarts

ArtsSmarts is a learning strategy for student success in the 21st century.

We’ve pioneered a model that uses artist-teacher collaboration, creative inquiry and transdisciplinary practice to transform teaching and learning for students in grades K-12.  ArtsSmarts improves student engagement, enhances school retention rates and cultivates 21st century learning skills.

We work through a model of distributed leadership whereby our local, regional or provincial partners deliver this approach in schools. Each of these partnerships are cross-sectoral and involve education, arts, community, corporate and government partners.

Last year, 281 ArtsSmarts projects took place across Canada and were experienced by 27,236 children and youth.
